Diagnosed Age 33
"I wish I could say I found my lump doing a regular breast self exam, but I didn't. Because I was 33 years old and had no family history of breast cancer, I was sure that it wasn't something I needed to worry myself with. But on the morning of February 12th, 2013, my fingers skimmed across a large rock hard lump in my breast and I was filled with fear. In the next 3 days I had a doctors appointment, an ultrasound, a core biopsy, mammogram, and a diagnosis of stage IIB Invasive Ductal Carcinoma.
I recently celebrated 1-year since my diagnosis and look forward to putting more time and distance between myself and cancer. I have met so many young women with breast cancer since my diagnosis. I never knew it was something that could happen in your 20's and 30's. I tell my story to others so that they will be proactive and feel their boobies!"
